Fredy Bonilla, baritone, began his choral experience under Scott Houston at Lamar High School in HISD. He received his BM in Music Education in 2013 from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston where he studied voice under Héctor Vásquez. While at Moores he was a member of the Moores School Concert Chorale and the Moores Opera Center.
He is the former choir director of Kerr High School in Alief ISD where he lead the men’s choruses and mixed choir. He worked in Alief ISD for 5 years where he is High School Choir lead and served as TMEA Region 23 secretary. Choirs under his direction have earned superior rating awards, UIL “Sweepstakes”, and best in class awards. His students have also received numerous superior solo and ensemble ratings, state superior ratings, and state outstanding performer awards.
Mr. Bonilla is an active singer with various ensembles in the Houston area. He has performed and done cathedral tours in England as section leader and soloist with Chorus Angelorum and Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal). He has also performed with Cantare Houston, Houston Chamber Choir, Houston Grand Opera, and the Houston Symphony Chorus.
